Goths needed! - Paid Mentoring Position Available

Paid Mentoring Position Available

Part/Time, $11.00 per hour.

Looking for a bright, open-minded, empathetic and responsible support worker who is immersed in goth culture. It doesn’t matter how you look but it is essential that you are able to connect with an amazing and sensitive young man, with a diagnosis of Asperger’s Syndrome who at times has felt like an outsider. He is seeking a companion and guide that can help him connect with the goth world, make friends and meet people. He is interested in gaming culture and would appreciate spending time with someone with similar interests.

The schedule would be part-time, starting at two evenings a week from approximately

5-8PM. This schedule may increase if it is felt to be mutually beneficial.

You will be required to fill out a daily checklist which will be submitted monthly and to maintain good communication with the agency (Job Path) and family. No experience is required but you must be a caring and committed individual with a genuine desire to support and help others. Training and support will be provided.

About our organization:

Job Path is an agency that supports people with developmental disabilities in their efforts to make choices about their lives.

Job Path encourages people to explore what they want out of life and to chart their own journeys. Then we provide the opportunities and support for them to succeed at whatever they want -- whether it's paid or volunteer work, living in their own homes, or participating in community life. Job Path is a reflective organization where staff carefully listens to people and thoughtfully considers the implications of their decisions.

We believe that:

  • everyone has gifts and capabilities and can make a real contribution
  • everyone can be part of community life
  • everyone deserves respect
  • everyone should have the opportunity to fulfill their dreams
  • everyone has a voice that should be heard
  • everyone has the right to make decisions about his or her own life

If you are interested then please send a resume and cover letter to SFord@jobpathnyc.org and if you have questions then feel free to call me at 212.944.0564 extension 257.

Sarah Ford.
